How do I figure if a service I am wanting to start is also in demand on the web?
I have an idea to start a service of my own, I want to start this on the web..but as a first step I want to know if people actually need what I am offering as a service. Can anyone help me how to ascertain that?

- -You can try doing a questionnaire/survey -You may start the webservice itself (if the cost is not high) and test it for sometime, people who initially say no often change minds if the service is really useful -You may compare with such services in other countries like USA, UK et al, how well or bad they are doing
- Google your topic (in quotes) to see if there is any interest then look at How many results? How many paid ads? and What kind of sites are in the top 10? Then find out how many times your topic is being searched each day. If it looks good, keep[ digging.
- You can put a poll and provide some most popular services as options and allow the visitors to select one of them, thus you can know which is the best to start.
- Find out how many other people are offering the same or similar services. That's usually pretty good indicator.
